Thanks to this thorough analysis, the partnership proposing this project identified the following specific objectives:
This objective will materialize in the creation of an educational path directed both to partner municipalities and to young people
from partner countries, during which they will learn how to effectively communicate and express their duties, interests, needs, and
concerns. They will also explore how to find common solutions to the issues posed by the climate crisis at the local municipal and
European levels through the creation of a cohesive and cooperative group of people. The exchange of knowledge/best practices
between partners and active dialogue/mutual understanding with young people will represent the pillars of the actions aiming at achieving this objective.
Indicator:
- Number of events dedicated to the exchange of best practices among the consortium: 6;
- Number of events dedicated to the creation of dialogue and exchange between political representatives and young people: 9;
- Final YMCA Manifesto: 1;
- People involved (sex- and age-disaggregated indicator): 892.
This project wants to contribute to the creation of more opportunities for young people, and especially young girls, to learn and express themselves, to be heard, and to become active members of local communities and European societies. The purpose is to provide them with the right tools to influence policymaking at all levels, thus restoring the image of environmental defenders as actors of change for a greater common good (the fight against CC). They will gain new skills and knowledge to be used in future environmental actions. Inclusive techniques, principles, and language will be used to implement the activities linked to this
objective; this will also be the occasion to gather local sex-disaggregated data on the participation/action on CC-related topics, which are currently missing in partner municipalities.
Indicator:
- Number of events dedicated to youth skills development: 11;
- Number of sex-disaggregated data collected (entries in the dataset): 20;
- Number of environmental non-violent protests/environmental events attended by participants (outside of YMCA) during project implementation:5.
This objective aims to favor the inclusion of partner municipalities in the European discourse around CC, as the pressure from local communities for stricter environmental policies will soon become more and more persistent. The inclusion of local communities in the actions aiming at achieving this objective represents the main pillar: by understanding the needs of local communities and being prepared to address them, partner municipalities will easily enter the European environmental debate, bringing with them the demands and solutions elaborated with and for their citizens. This will overall favor the implementation of stricter and more effective environmental policies, will facilitate community participation on CC-related topics and will help in containing the rising far-right extremist positions in Europe, that counteract environmental action for the benefit of economic interests.
Indicator:
- Number of events dedicated to community engagement: 10;
- Number of community gatherings (outside of YMCA) organized during project implementation in partner municipalities: 5;
- Number of community propositions for climate action during project implementation in partner municipalities: 15.
