Alba Iulia Municipality is a city that serves as the seat of Alba County in the west-central part of Romania. Located on the Mureș River in the historical region of Transylvania, it has a population of 64.227 inhabitants. The local public authority provides a democratic local government: its activities and objectives include the provision of public services for the inhabitants in a sustainable manner, respecting the equality of chances, the promotion of social and economic development, a safe and healthy environment, the involvement of citizens and NGOs in the matters of local government, the provision of good living conditions. The municipality is considered one of the most experienced cities in Romania working with EU funds and implementing EU projects, delivering outstanding results; it has also a demonstrated history in promoting local and national environmental policies. Lots of EU projects were implemented by Alba Iulia Municipality, most of them being dedicated to Roma people, gender equality, and to raising awareness on human rights and social equality.

Throughout the years, Alba Iulia gained extensive experience in managing environmental projects, from an educational point of view (dedicated to awareness raising and youth involvement) and from an

As lead partner, will provide its expertise to the entire partnership, and it will coordinate all the communications and the processes of agreement between project partners. The staff dedicated to this project proposal will be in charge of orchestrating all the events and activities, supporting partner municipalities throughout the whole project duration. A smooth and comfortable approach will
be ensured, from the early phases of project design to the final phases of monitoring and evaluation: active communication and prompt reaction to any issue that might arise will be the main characteristics of Alba Iulia Municipality as lead partner.
