The YMCA – Youth Municipal Climate Action Project Has Been Selected for Funding!

We are pleased to announce that the YMCA (Youth Municipal Climate Action) project has been selected for funding under the CERV-2024-CITIZENS-TOWN-NT call (Networks of Towns). This significant achievement marks an essential step towards engaging young people in climate policies at the municipal level.
The project, coordinated by the Municipality of Alba Iulia (Romania), brings together partners from five European countries: Italy, Czech Republic, Spain, and Lithuania. YMCA aims to create a safe space where young people and local political representatives can collaborate effectively to identify and implement climate change mitigation and adaptation measures.
The YMCA project consortium consists of:
- Municipality of Alba Iulia (Romania) – Coordinator;
- Associazione Amici per Sandrà (Italy);
- Asociatia de Dezvoltare Intercomunitara Motii Tara de Piatra (Romania);
- Mestska Cast Praha-Kolovraty (Czech Republic);
- Asociacion Building Bridges (Spain);
- Asociacija Mano Europa (Lithuania);
- Federación Regional de Asociaciones Vecinales de Madrid (Spain) – Associated Partner;
- Jonavos Rajono Savivaldybes Administracija (Lithuania) – Associated Partner.
The main objectives of the project include:
- Promoting intergenerational dialogue on environmental policies;
- Facilitating the active involvement of young people in local decision-making processes;
- Organizing workshops, seminars, best practice exchanges, and roundtable discussions;
- Developing a Best Practices Manual and a YMCA Manifesto with common proposals for the climate crisis.
Expected Impact:
- 892 direct beneficiaries;
- A communication campaign reaching over 100,000 people;
- A potential impact on over 240,000 citizens at the European level.
